I am probably posting this message to the wrong forum, but I wasn't sure where else to place it. I have a situation where I need the capabilty of a reporting tool, but I would like the ability to be able to open the report and edit it as if it were a regular document, once the report is generated.
Something like a mail merge is what I'm after. When word does a mail merge it will generate a document that you can then freely edit before printing. Unfortunately word does not have the grouping capabilities that a report has, which I will also need.
I'm open to any suggestions... Is there a good reporting tool that can generate .doc files or documents in the format of any word processor? Or I was also thinking that I could auto-generate the word file manually, perhaps with the help of a COM server. Has anyone else encountered a similar situation?
