EDD and ABKO

What is the essential difference between an EDD and an ABKO? As I understand it the customer database is stored on the hard disk on large system and floppy.
 
Book says about the same for each I guess. Here is the difference I tink: BKO writes the office data to removeable media only

EDD does the hard drives and removable

I just tried it to see if I remembered...I don't rember for sure
