In device manager i see that the ECP Printer Port drivers not installed but my printer prints fine. When I try to install the drivers there is no change.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Should explain that I have Win 98SE and a Canon MP730 on a parallel cable

So then, I cound then ignore the port in device manager or even disable it so that I am not prompted to install a driver for it?

Sure try to disable it. Test the printing. Reverse the setting if anything stops working.

Hugh,

The printer and computer are at the home office and I won't be there until tonight.
Will report back though

you can also change the LPT port settings on the PC, in the BIOS (setup screen - usually F2, DEL, etc before booting), from ECP to standard or bi-directional.

I disabled it and all workes including messages back from the printer. I forgot that it was a USB hookup so the ECP port would (should) have nothing to do with it.
