Has anyone had an increase in numbers of users complaining about echo on calls?

We very rarely have any customer complain about echo on the systems.
however we have had a run on echo issues in the past few months.

Al system have an ip500v2 on 9.1(4) or 9.1(5) have ip phones 9611, 9608
Have a mixture of sip, bri and analogue lines.

I have personally experienced it using direct media between our offices. 50ms roundtrip.
I can hear myself.
However I use a Plantronics C054A headset.

Normally reported as the office user can hear themselves.

Any ideas?

We had a similar situation: IP Phones/Analog trunks and we never could overcome the echo issues. Pulled the 9608 IP phones and replaced them with 9508 digital and all of the echo issues went away. We have never seen echo issues with IP phones and PRI however and have some fairly large sites configured this way.

Would've pulled the analogue trunks myself.

Now experiencing escalation fatigue.

We get Echo on systems that use analog trunks with IP phones. Especially SIP based analog trunks like Comcast. We now disable echo settings under the trunk and it helps a lot.

Ditto what holdmusic34 says, every time I've seen echo issues, there has always been analog trunks involved

Sadly changing the lines is not an option, I would prefer ISDN over anything.

Was on site yesterday testing system.

9608 on a 9.1(5)ip500v2 ComboATMv2 using an Openreach analogue lines.

When on a call it sounded great but on two occasion the was a burst of echo on the 9608 phone (call was around 40 minutes)
I could hear myself saying the last work on the phone.
On both occasions it was after a pause in the conversations. It was like echo cancelation was turned off as i wasn’t speaking the delayed kicking back in.

Think i will give an upgrade to 9.1(6) and possibly try the following links.

ACG could be the issue. I would turn it off it in the 46XXsettings file. You can turn it off in the A Menu on the phone (options and settings/advanced options), but it may not stick after a reboot.

Dermis and feline can be divorced by manifold methods.*
