I've got echo on analog phone lines. Manager on my unit has options for echo cancelation. I guess this is new to atm4u cards.

Does anyone know if I should even mess with this setting.

Well if you've got echo and the card has options for echo cancellation, far be it for me to say but ....

But first exclude other possible causes - if the echo is occuring in conference calls, then its almost an inevitable fact of life, especially if anyone in the conference likes to work handsfree (leave handsfree conferencing to polycom units) or if you have multiple analog lines in the call. I've given up counting the number of time someone complains about quality on a conference call and then we ask them to pick up their handset.

They say they are not using conference or handsfree.

I read on a avaya tip that converting from 4 line to 2 line causes ussues sometimes. This may be part of the problem. The local phone company delivers the lines as a t1 and then breaks them out using an adtran channel bank device. The lines are then delivered as analog to us to put into the phone system.

We have other locations using the same carrier using the same adtran devices with no complaints.

Any ideas are appreciated.

If you did not get the echo off the line try this.
Only useable with the ATM4 Universal trunk card. Allows settings of Off, 8, 16, 32, 64 and 128 milliseconds. The echo cancellation should only be adjusted as high as required to remove echo problems. Setting it to a higher value than necessary can cause other distortions.
