E911 call questions

Hey guys,

sorry for the question which it has probably been asked a million times......

we have a site that has 5 locations, all networked. when someone dials 911, is there a way to find out which phone from which location called 911. if so, how do we find this out.

kyle1532, what twisst was saying in a brief fashion is you can find this if you have been running a delta server log, you can search back through the smdr records, obviously this would need to be done on the system with the lines, or if they have their own lines you will need Delta server each site. This can't be done after the event it needs to be running constantly

sorry, i should have been a little more clear...but i was wondering, if an ip phone at one of the remote locations dials 911, how does it know to give the physical address of the remote site even though its using the lines through the main ip office at a different location?

If I understand E911 correctly, E911 sends a specified CLI to the line if a 911 call is made (this CLI is different to the normal CLI) the emergency CLI is the one that is address matched for emergency dispatch use.

However being UK based, I don't know for sure, and it is a long time since I did the training for that particular PBX, in the USA

What we do is this:
1. Ensure that there is one analog line at each location.
2. When a caller dials 911 we send the calling number of the analog line at their location.
3. Test

thanks for the reply. i think that is what we are going to do. we were also looking to see if the dial tone provider at the main location can send information using a DID number? but i think the first choice is going to be the best/safest!
