E8535 Failed to receive data from client agent xxx

I have two Netapp NAS filers, one arcserve server and two libraries. One library is connected via SCSI to the Arcserver server and the other is connected to Netapp3 via fiber. The second netapp is located on the network and accesed via a gigbit switch. I can backup the NAS most of the time via the fiber but when I try to use NDMP to access Netapp1, I get the error above and the following errors:

AE0407 NAS Server Error Dump - Tape Write Failed

Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

I read your update a few time but wasn't quite sure which one you were having problems with - the SCSI connected one or the Fibre connected one (in which case you'll be using SAN/NAS Dynamic device sharing right ?).

I also wasn't sure if you were trying to do 3-way backup backing up to a tape library on another NAS box.

If you could fill in some of the versions you are using on the ARCserve side this will probably help, as will the tape drive/library you are using that you are experiencing the problem with.

Not come across the specific error you mention but maybe some of the details will help put things into perspective, or give someone else a clue on what is going on

The problem occurs trying to backup via the fiber channel. I have Arcserve v11.1 and the problem occurs during the 3-way backup to the library from Netapp1. Most backups to Netapp3 connected via fiber complete successfully. When backing up Netapp1 the job may run through 2 volumes and fail on the other volumes. It seems to be intermittent.

Check the logs at the NetApp end, and you will probably find the source of the problem.
