Arcserve 2000 V.7.0 SP5
windows 2000 server with SP4
Netserver LH6000

We recently installed a new HP Storage Works SDLT 320 Tape Drive in order to replace a defective SureStore DLT 80 device.

The hardware setup went smothly, we tested it using the LTT tool from HP - all tests finished successfully.

when in Arcserve, we can format the tape, but the Backup Job will return the error message mentionned in the SUbject line.

other steps we tried in order to resolve, but to no avail.

- updated to Arcserve SP5
- updated the Netraid SCSI Drivers
- Updated the SDLT Firmware
- Disabled the Removable Storage Service.

Despite all of this, the error is still happening. Would the version of Arcserve be the cause...should we upgrade to v.11?

i feel like i'm lost and fresh out of ideas...any help would be great.

thank you for your time.

Is the SDLT320 on CA's supported hardware list for AS2000 SP5?

They might not have bothered to update it for support to force you to upgrade to v11. Not a great cost in itself unless you have a lot of server and client agents to upgrade.

thanks...i looked at the CA site and couldnt find the supported hardware list.

can you provide the link?

i'm looking to upgrade the Adaptec AIC-7880 PCI SCSI Controller but i cant find the drivers.

i looked at and came up with nothing....any ideas where i could obtain it?

That is the chipset, you'll need the model number of the card to look up on the Adaptec website.

Looks like you'll have a 2940/U/UW/UWPro, 2944UW or 3940U/UW/UWD

From the adaptec downloads page looks like W2000 SP4 should already have latest drivers. Although there is a Yr 2001 bios update for the 2944 series which might help.
