E2K3 Upgrade claims E2K not installed

Currently
E2K STD SP3 installed on Win2K Server SP4.
Server is in WIN2K native mode as is Exchange.
Forest prep goes well
Domain Prep goes well
Actual upgrade of exchange gets to component selection
screen and gives this message. "Server XXXX must be a
Microsoft Exchange 2000 server with Microsoft Exchange
Service Pack 3, or higher, installed"

OK, got it straightened out on my own.
Instead of going through the MS Install GUI and clicking "Run set up"
I started the install from a command prompt with the "all" switch.
Install went fine, no hangups.
 
We ran into the same problem, but the solution that worked for swankman didn't work for us.

We had installed SP3 for Exchange while in recovery mode. Although the server indicated that it was Exchange 2000 with SP3, we went ahead and reinstalled SP3 for Exchange 2000 in standard mode (not disaster recovery). After completing reinstallation and restarting, the Exchange 2003 setup ran.
