Hi all,
I have a Cisco 3640 with Mica Modem Module, I want to have users RAS in over ISDN PRI using an E1 Card. Which E1 Card should I choose? Is there a particular Part code or Module I should order?
Thanks
Paul

Paul,
Depending on how many modem ports you need, the part number is :
NM-6DM
NM-12DM
NM-18DM
NM-24DM
NM-30DM

The number before the DM indicates the number of modems on the E1/T1 network module.

A good reference tool to check part numbers and their compatability between routers is the Cisco Configuration Tools website.

Jimmy,
thanks for the reply. I'm not sure I get you though, I have a Mica Modem Module that sits in Slot 2 of my 3640, this module has 12 Modems. For WAN use I want to know which model number the E1 Card is. In Ireland E1 is 2meg so I just want to configure 12 B channels one for each of the modems that will dial in/out for RAS use. I didnt know you could get an E1 Card with built in Modems.
Thanks again and I hope this a bit more clear.

Paul,
Apologies, for the confusion. You'll need a E1 module inconjuction with the modem module (Usually order it as a bundle and get both the modems and E1). There are many variations/combo of E1 modules. The basic E1 card is NM-1CE1B.

Jimmy,
thanks again for that.

All,
just another related query, how would I configure up the E1 so that 512K is used for internet access and the rest is used for the dial in RAS?
Thanks
Paul
