e-mails stay in my outbox?

Running Windows XP Pro.
Have just upgraded from Office 2000 to Office XP (Outlook 2002)
I can receive e-mails no problem but when I send e-mails they just stay in my outbox forever and do not get sent.

Anything I can check/try?

P.S. Exchange 2000 Server

Check your Outlook settings and be sure it is set to either automatically send or send every xx minutes.

Then check your Outbox. Make sure the emails are in italics before pressing Send. If the emails are in regular font, they will never be sent regardless of your Outlook settings.

To mimic this behavior so you can see it, first set your Outlook to not automatically send an email, draft an email, send it, go to your Outbox, open the email and simply close it using File-Close. Notice it change to regular font? Now open it again and press Send. Notice it change to italics?

Come on mcnutlaw.
This is the second post I see with bad advice.
Fonts have NOTHING to do with being able to send.

ARCITS, check the error you get when you perform a Send/Receive and post it.

If 'something' 'somewhere' gives 'some' error, expect random guesses or no replies at all. Please specify details.

no error messages!

any advice appreciated?

Are you sure they are un-opened in there?
Open one and clik Send again to see, again do a send/receive with details on and check for errors.

tried opening them and sending again but they don't go even after doing SEND/RECEIVE.

The bar across the message header says "This message has not been sent".

I think I'll try reinstalling office and the service packs???

Has to be my PC as if I access Exchange server through webmail all is okay and I can send no problem.

Thanks anyway.

If you think of anything else I can check let me know

You could just try to create anothe Exchange profile on your PC, with the same stttings to test before re-installing anything.

Fonts is indicative of whether Outlook is trying to send it or not. I had this with a user whose network connection was faulty. Outlook tries to send messages then realises it is offline, therefore signals the messages that it is actively trying to send by displaying them in italics. At reconnection the messages should send themselves.

For what its worth, I had the same problem, logged off the troublesome PC, logged on to a laptop, messages sent fine.

Uninstalled and reinstalled office, still hanging in the outbox.

I ended up rebuilding the PC. :-(

It works fine now
