I get an "Application error - Call to undefined Dynalink" every time I log onto my labtop.

This started happening when I wanted to connect my XPPro labtop to my HP laserjet. I ran the setup disk, which applies to win 3.1, on my labtop.

Would like to get rid of the message. Please help.

It's not really surprising that you are getting this error on Windows XP if you tried to use a Win 3.1 installation disk [bigsmile]

The error message that you are receiving is basically saying that the file it would expect to be there in a Windows 3.1 installation is not present.

What you need to do is uninstall the software/drivers that you have installed for the printer, this should get rid of the error message.

Next you will need to locate Windows XP drivers for this printer, if you have trouble doing that feel free to post the model name of your Laserjet and someone here might know where to find it.

You might also find that Windows XP already has the driver for it, it does have a wide selection of Laserjet drivers as part of XP.

Click on Start > Control Panel > Printer & Faxes > Click on "Add a Printer" in the Printer tasks section on the left > Click Next > Select "Local Printer attached to this computer" > Untick "Automatically detect and install my plug and play printer" > Click Next > Assuming that you are using the parallel port to connect the printer just click next (other wise select the relevent port first) > Now from this screen you can select HP as the manufacturer and see if your laser jet model is present.

Hope this helps

I have tried to remove the files mentioned on the README file but can't find that file. So I couldn't deinstall the file.

I also removed the driver and reinstall it. But the mesaage still appears.

Another problem is that HP no longer support the laserjet 4L.

Any adivce.

I have no problem with printing from my labtop to the printer. It just that I get this misterious message every time I log on my labtop and I just want to get rid of it! Any thoughts?

The reason that you are getting this error message is likely due to HP having some kind of "assistant" software that helps you align cartridges etc.. This is set to start when your computer starts. Take a look in the following place, Click Start > Go to All Programs > Go to Startup - Is there anything in there that relates to the HP Printer? If so delete it.

If you have no joy there then click on start > click on Run > type msconfig and then click on OK.

Click on the Startup Tab and until anything that relates to the HP printer and then restart and see if you get the error message.

I can't find any start-up programs that are related to any printer or an HP pinter.
