For some reason DW 4 templates applied to pages will translate the relative links in the template file (e.g. ../graphics/title.gif) into absolute links in the HTML file built on the template (e.g. /graphics/title.gif).
This is very annoying and I have not figured out why it does that sometimes or hwo to get rid of that behavior.
Any thoughts are appreciated.

Hello DRJ478!

It looks for me that when you created links in the template file you made such a mistake: in the popup window asking for path to file for your link you chose "Site Root" instead of "Document" in the "Relative To:" attribute (at the bottom of popup window). Try to change all your links in the template relative to Document. It may fix your problem.

Good Luck!

Thanks Eugene,

but that's not the problem. All links are document relative in the template. I work on sites from different locations. At my workstation at work there is no trouble. However, when I download the exact same files to another workstation it sometime happens. It even behaves like this with the same DW installation under. I haven't changed anything in the templates.
All links were created as document relative. The frustrating thing is that they still get converted to root relative. Foring an update of the documents does not remedy the situation either. I even removed the content and the file and created on from scratch - same thing.

Hi,

This isn't an answer, just to say that I have had exactly the same problem. It is really annoying as it effecitvely makes the Template feature redundant unless your site is on the root of the webserver.

Someone must know a solution??
