DVD RW not burning

I recently bought a Sony DW-U18A DVD+-RW Drive, from newegg.com, and I installed it, installed nero again, and made sure everything was set up right.
It could read cds, but whenever I put in a blank DVD+R disc, it would say it was a normal cd rom drive in my computer, and burn was grayed out in nero.
Any help?

Have you flashed the newest firmware on the device? This normally resolves problems, also can you burn a CDR? This may be a problem with media and your drive any way there are a few questions for you

I just bought a Sony DVD RW DRU-530A, a pack of DVD +R and a pack of DVD -R media, both Sony. It was plug-and-play for me!! Everything worked as advertised.
