dvd+r drive gone after firmware update

why did you do a firmware update? (unless you needed extra functionality this would give, no point in doing this).
Have you tried removing the device in device manager, restarting and letting windows reinstall it?
What do you mean by 'cannot access'? Does your CD/DVD burning software recognise it? If you go into disk management (run diskmgmt.msc) - has it got a drive letter associated (if not, it won't appear in explorer - but you can assign one here - right click on it...)

I did a firmware update because of the note on the 8x DVD+R disk that i just purchased.
I uninstalled and let Windows reinstall and i can now see my DVD+R drive.
I didn't think to do this, I was too busy trying to get some things done to think about hat to do. Thanks Alot.
