Couldn't think of another forum to put this in but here goes. I either play a DVD from the disc or from my hard drive but my DVD software (Nero ShowTime) stutters on playback of title menus and makes it impossible to navigate the DVD. I have 2.66ghz celeron D, 256Mb Ram and am running it from the disc or a 8mb cache HD if that helps. Any ideas?

1.) have you tried any other software, like PowerDVD or WinDVD? still the same problem?

2.) do you have all the necessary Codecs installed? get a hold of the freeware Sherlock, run it and it will tell you what, if any, Codecs are damaged or which are installed...

3.) what programms are running in the background? too many or some programs will interfere with the playback option...

Where can I find this Sherlock, and it is just Menus that are extremly slow, once into the actual film it runs perfectly

Using Nero 6 with Nero Vision Express 3, have tried reinstalling. The DVD now works with Win DVD

Louis Hill

1.) Nero 6 spans a whole range of different versions... starting from 6.0.0.0 to 6.6.0.16..... so which one did you have? suggest you DL the latest 6.6.0.16( or go with Nero 7 Premium...

2.) your response that WinDVD works, suggests that there is a problem with NERO... soo see 1.) for upgrading NERO...

Good to hear it was only a software issue. For Nero's Showtime to work (if you prefer that interface), definitely try to install all the patches you can find on their site.

Otherwise, it looks like you have a fix!

Was fully up to date, might consider getting Nero7 but I dont know if it is fully worth it, I will stick with WinDVD though

Louis Hill

It is not worth it at present... it is a whole Suite of things, ergo Bloated fully...

glad to have helped you out with the WinDVD...

Glad you have solved your problem, you can stick these away for later use if you like.

You might benefit too with a little bit more RAM installed on your machine, perhaps an extra 256MB?
