I've got a Pioneer DVD-ROM DVD-105 drive that automatically ejects any DVD disk put into it. All other disk-types (CD-R, CD-RW, Audio, etc) work just fine. When I load a DVD disk, the drive doesn't even give me a green light to indicate it is even attempting to read the disk - it just ejects it after about 6 seconds. Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance,
Kilo

It's knackered. At a guess, either the DVD laser or receptor isn't working.

Just to rule out software, shutdown the PC and boot into your BIOS setup. Try putting a DVD disk in while there. If it stays, then you have a Windows problem. If it doesn't, then it's likely a hardware issue.

Before giving up, try cleaning the laser lens. A can of compressed air works great, and is safer than using a cleaning disc.
