DVD Decoder 1

I had a similar problem with my Toshiba Tecra 8000 laptop, I was forced to install a "SOFTWARE DVD DECODER" although my laptop contains a "HARDWARE DVD DECODER" (its not recognized by win XP). I just downloaded and run one of the DVD programs (from download.com) for example PowerDVD (this solved the problem temporarly).
After installing Win media player 8, it could figure out the problem automatically, and asked me (as I remember) to reduce the color specifications (? number of bits) and I was able to review the DVD's through win media player. Just try to download and use the latest Windows media player. I am sure it will tell you the exact problem. Good luck! (please inform me if this works)

Sorry, I forgot to ask you first: Does your laptop contains a hardware DVD decoder ? (check the user manual)(most of the recent laptops does not contain this, as a policy to reduce prices and the weight), if not then the only solution will be the use of a "SOTWARE DVD DECODER", by simply downloading and using one of the DVD programs (you will not be able to run the DVD's directly from within "current" versions of win media player).
