My DVD RW drive has suddenly stopped working, only a couple of days ago I burnt a CD and it was fine. I have updated the driver, but still no luck.
Basically, the problem is that when I insert a disc the drive doesnt detect it, i've tried various brands of discs but nothing seems to work. I also tried setting the drive to write slower and faster, but that didnt work either.
Thanks for any help.

Couple of steps:

1. Try removing the drive in device manager reboot & let the OS redetect it.

2. If you are using other than XP included burning software, uninstall and reinstall it.

3. You are setting the drive to burn slower?? My experience is that this is at the point that you are preparing to burn and a disk would have to be recognized to get there??

Hope this helps

Are you using Roxio EZCD Creator? If so, what version? When I upgraded to Ver 7.0, it stopped recongnizing my CDRW and my DVDRW drives. Had to go back down to Ver 6.0 to get it working again. Good old Roxio!
