Hello everyone,

I have a inspiron 4150 which was working fine till I got an external CD burner whch came with Nero burning software...during installation I was asked to uninstall Roxio software and eversince I did that, my CD/DVD drive does not show up as installed...The divers that I get from Dell are of no use since they dont find any MATSHITA drive in the system (acc to DELL I have a Hitachi LG drive, but in Device Manager, it show sup as a MATSHITA)...and since its close to 4 years old, I have misplaced its Driver CD also...

Thanks to anyone who can offer any insight into this issue.

drivers are needed only for win9x/dos , nt based os's uses a generic optical drives driver , follow the steps in this article to resolve the issue , as for the identification in device manager dell are likely wrong cuz thers really no reason for windows to misidentify it
