I would like to know if someone could help with this.
We have Microsoft sql database,
We are creating reports for Helpdesk and difference groups.
When the Helpdesk forward a call to a group there is date time detail associate with that action how sometime calls can be forwarded from group to another groups
I want to know how to calculate the time that call spent on that group.

I know with VB it’s easy to do.
Thanks..

There's are datediff and previous functiona which should simplify life for you.

If the rows are ordered by this column:

DateDiff ("s", {MyTable.MyDatetime}, previous({MyTable.MyDatetime}))

would return the number of seconds.

I know there is datediff in versions 8 but not in 7.
If I create the report with 8 I would not be able to schedule it in info desktop 7 because the function doesn’t exist.
I cannot find out how to create it manually.

Thanks

dgillz: That's dateadd, not datediff.

I can't recall what works in CR 7, there are other functions that would help, but at a rudimentary level you could accomplish this by converting each datetime into the desired precision (seconds?) and perform the math against some static datetime seconds...

Hi,

There is a function which is included with SI 7.0 but is not installed by default (it's also available as a D/L) called DatetoJulian. The previous idea could then be used
(if slightly modified):

DatetoJulian({MyTable.MyDatetime})-DatetoJulian(previous({MyTable.MyDatetime}))

Hope this helps!
