Hi all,

I have a problem with a user in Active Directory in Windows 2000 Server. I tried changing the Display name of an user and for some reason windows duplicated the original user (and named the new user 'username-1' and moved the exchange mailbox to the new user. When I now try to open the mailbox with the old or the new user, I get the 'Object not found' message. Luckily the mailbox was still open on a computer, so I am making a backup of the mails.

Any idea what is the best way to solve this problem? Delete both users and recreate the user? Or is there another way to make the mailbox accessible again?

Thanks for any help.

Best Regards,

Delete the user but not the mailbox. Then create a new user and in Exchange System Manager right click the mailbox and choose to link it up to the new user you created.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark
