duplicate of "my documents" directory

For some reason that I don't understand I am getting a duplicate of my "my documents" directory automatically created in the "C:\WINNT\SYSVOL\sysvol\NTserver.local\scripts\" directory of the same computer. The copy of the directory is updated regularly (maybe at computer shutdown?). So, everytime you save a file to "my docs" it takes up twice as much space on the hard drive.

Also, if I delete a file out of "my docs" it automatically restores it from the "C:\WINNT\SYSVOL\..." dir when I reboot. So, I need to delete the file in both places to get rid of it.

The computer in question is just a XP Pro station that is connected to an NT4.0 server "NTserver". It seems to only duplicate the "my documents" directory of one user on this station. I haven’t seen any other stations on the network exhibiting this duplication. I don't see any user settings that cause this. Can somebody help me understand why this replication is happening and how to turn it off? Is it some sort of replication or synchronization setting that can cause this?

The station is not used as a server, but was used as a SQL server for some test data for a while.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the recommendations. Unfortunately, I tried them to no avail.

Later I found a registry entry in \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\... that had a CentralProfile value of "C:\WINNT\SYSVOL\sysvol\NTserver.local\scripts\". Also, for some reason, the user properties on the NT Server to which the computer is attached also had this directory listed in the Profile Path.

I removed this directory from both locations and left the entries blank. The problem seems to be solved. Thanks for your advice. Now, I deleted the entire directory tree of C:\winnt\ on the station (it's an XP station, so wouldn't normally have this directory.)
