Dual User Connections in XP Pro

I know XP Pro supports 10 concurrent connections and no mater how many files or shares are open that only counts as one connection but i have found an exception/bending of this rule and i was wondering if anyone could help and indeed if this is the right group to help.

We have a piece of database based software running on 4 'servers' in 4 separate offices. 3 servers run windows2000 and this works perfectly with 8 users running the software in each office.

The problem comes with the server machine running XP Pro. It requires only 6 users in that office to connect to use the software but only 4 users connected seems to max out the available connections.

This seems (to me) to happen because in Computer Management -> Sessions each user is connecting twice, once as the USERNAME/COMPUTERNAME and then a second time as (sameUSERNAME)/IP ADDRESS one connectiong to the software and the second to the database; Treating each as a separate connection, whereas win2k seems to treat them only as one connection.

Is there a need to link the two connections (ie computer name to ip address) manually in a way that possibly happens automatically in win2k?? Or is there something else i need to do?

This problem is outside of my knowledge so any help would be appreciated.
