I want to buy one and use an AMD processor. Can you get dual motherboard's for the AMD Athlon XP chip? If so which is the best motherboard?

Thanks

Mark

For dual AMD processors, you need to use the Athlon MP range, which supports up to 2 processors.

You must of course use an operating system that supports dual CPU operation on it to benefit from the second CPU: NT 4, Win2000, XP Pro or Linux.

After a quick search, I have only found one: the MSI SoA AMD 760MPX ATX A L, and the only place so far I have found it on sale is Dabs.com (go there and enter quicklinks code 2MYJWS) price £131+vat approx.
Not sure how it compares up to its competitors (there must be others out there surely) and against how good it is. I would also check out hardware review sites such as tomshardare.com to see what they say about it and its facilities etc.

Get a Tyan motherboard. They seem to be the best in this area. In fact most pre-made servers based on the AMD MP processors use their boards.

I have a client that has two of these systems now and they run great.
