dual nic server cant ping any network device with #2 nic enabled

I am attempting to configure NLB for my companies webserver to run off of. the servers I am using are identical and have dual nic adapters. I am running into a problem on Server1, if NIC #1 is enabled, I cant ping any server on the network. If NIC #1 is disabled, I can ping every workstation/server on my network?

this is causing a stoppage in configureation and I cant figure it out. Ive done reboots

can any of you offer ways to possible resolve.

one thing I just found out...

if I disable the adapter and then reinable it, it sends the server into a state(the server is at a data center and I cant see what it is doing) where I loose connection to it via RDC. I can regain connection, but cant login to server. the only course is to hard boot.

Are both NIC's in Teaming configuration?
Do the network switches know that the two NIC's belong to the same machine? In other words are the two ports on the switch channeled?
(When defining an EtherChannel on the switch use the "Source MAC" Loadbalancing method when conecting to a host)

If no Teaming and no Channeling is configured, the switch and perhaps a router, sees traffic from one IP address over two ports. This is not good. Resolving the IP address (ARP) can result in two possible outcomes, with two different routes back to your Server.

If Teaming is enabled but Channeling is not, the switch sees the Teaming MAC address on two ports. This is bad, because the switch doesn't know to which port the traffic has to go, and strange things might happen.

Can you tell us more about the NIC/Network configuration.
