Hi

My OS is windows xp .

My VGA card is : radeon 9100 vivo .

I heard that the dual monitors is great for the graphic designing and video editing .

I guess that my VGA card can support this kind of connection .

So my questions are :

1- How it works ?
2- How can I set my OS to deal with this kind of connections ?
3- How can I set my VGA card properties ?
4- If I will open 2 programs .. how can I display a program in a specific monitor and not in the other ?.
5- If I choose to open a program and I want to display the work space on monitor 1 and the palettes on monitor 2 – does that mean that I will open the program twice ?
6- What is the minimum system requirement (processor , ram and HD )
to handle this kind of connection ?
7- How can I control 2 programs displayed on two monitors from the same keyboard and with one mouse ? I mean how my computer will know that I am working on the program on the right monitor and not on the left , so all the commands I make and mouse arrow moves on this monitor and not on the other one ?

Thank you

Hook up two monitors, hit the power button, and you'll be pleasently surprised.

As for how it works, just think of it as an extened desktop. If both monitors are set to 1024x768, then the computer will behave like the desktop size were 2048x768. Nothing fancy, that's just how it works.

Im running a radeon 9800 so there may be some differences but here is how it goes for me.

>plug in both monitors
>boot up
>right click desktop > properties > settings

now you should be able to see an image with 2 monitors. If one is greyed out right click on it and choose attach.

the monitors are numbered 1 and 2 if you click on the number 2 monitor you can change all of its settings. choosing the "Extend my desktop onto this monitor" will allow you to basically extend your desktop over 2 monitors (as you want in #7).

If this doesnt work hit the advanced button and choose the Displays tab. You may need to turn the monitor on from here.

As for some of your other questions they will all become clear when you get it up and running.

* I have assumed your graphics card is dual headed (has 2 monitor outputs). If it isnt then you cant run 2 monitors

Thank you very much Fitzjj for your help .
