We've recently changed our company name and have a new domain name. Some users will still be under the old domain, some under the new one. All will be able to receive mail for both domains. No problem so far.

The CEO will be operating both companies. He wants to be able to select which return address is used for outgoing domains. This is where I seem to have trouble. The "primary" SMTP address is always used as the return, including if he "sends as" a secondary.

I thought of creating a dummy user and granting "send as" rights to it, but need to make sure that he receives all mail.

Thanks for any insight.

Lee.

I simply applied message format for 2 specific domains. If this is incorrect, forgive me, as I am getting 3 different ways of interpreting your question...need more coffee!

1.Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then double-click System Manager.
2.Double-click Global Settings.
3.Right-click Internet Message Formats, point to New, and then click Domain.
4.On the General tab, in the Name box, type a descriptive name for the SMTP policy.
5.In the SMTP domain box, type the Domain Name System (DNS) name of the domain to which the new policy applies.
6.Click the Message Format tab, and then specify the message encoding and character sets that you want to use.
7.Click the Advanced tab, and then set the advanced formatting options that you want to use.
8.Click OK to create the policy. The policy is then applied to all mail that is delivered to the designated domain.

Thanks. Your instructions seem to be referring to incoming mail, or is the policy application based on the outgoing destination domain?

In any case, what I'm really looking for is a way to select the source email address for outgoing messages on a per-message basis.

Today I might send you a message which you'd see as being from "joe@abc.com". Tomorrow I choose to be "joe@xyz.com" and that's the "from" address that you'd see.

I suspect that this is as much an Outlook question as an Exchange one.
