I want to use DVD-R as data archiving. My bying department mistakenly orderred dual layer DVD-R's. How stable is this media and for how long can this be kept?

I dont see why you should notice any difference with single or dual layer discs, unless you've read something I haven't.

Hope this Helps.

Hi

I haven't used dual layer discs before and I am just trying to find out if there are some pitfalls I have to watch out for.

I did some reading on digital media in general a month or so ago, and no problems seem to spike up..... + are less susceptable to errors, ergo, more reliable.

Hope this Helps.

Aren't the Dual Layer disks the ones they use (or similar) when they are manufacturing the DVD Videos that you buy from the shop?

Yes. Genreally.
The real issue is making sure you get decent quality ones....same format you can buy a batch that 90% will work...same format, same brand everything, from another batch, 90% might fail....

The only choice you can make is choicing the manufacturer that has the smallest failure raiting.

Ciao.com is an independent customer review site where pretty much everything is reviewed, even different brands of digital media, check that out.

Hope this Helps.
