I got an error yesterday executing a DTS that did the following.

It imports Excel data into MS SQL.

The error I got was "'fn.xls$' is not a valid name. Make sure that it does not include invalid characters or punctuation...". Error souurce: Microsoft JET Database Engine.

Anyone ever see this error? What is the fix?

Thanks!
Alan

Excel files are .xls not .xls$ so I'm guessing that's the error.

Make sure to change your excel sheet name (or only import the relevant sheets) when doing your Import. If you're using the import wizard, it's relatively easy to spot. It's in one of the last few screens where you'll see the problem.
