Hi,

I currently have a 406 with 2 DT30 modules attached to it. I want to upgrade this to a DS version. I have purchased 2 DS30 modules and all the phones to go with it. What is the upgrade process for the 406 unit to get it from dt to ds. It is currently runinng dt2.1 software.

Thanks

You will need to upgrade to version 3. I prefer 3.0(69) OTHERS may differ.

I would re-write config. Especially as the port numbers will be out. so a config swap will really upset things. Dont forget VM upgrade to and any sw like phone managers/consoles/ccc etc.

3.1 is also around but our techs seem to have related issues with timers etc.

Backup the config file somewhere safe and then just go for a straight swap.

Unplug all the phons from the DT's, noting the DT ports each cable used, ie. Module 1 port 1, Module 1 port 2, etc.

Power off everything, disconnect DT Module 1 and 2 from their expansion cables and replace with DS Module 1 and 2.

Power everything back up and cross fingers.

Receive the config from the system and check that all seems okay. If so, start replacing the DT phones on the desks with the DS phones. Then with Manager up and running, start reconnecting the phone cables at the module end.

So, If i power up the system wit hthe same 2.1 software on but with the ds modules attached the system should automatically work?

Then i would do the upgrade to the 3.x?

lemmondcomm Is correct, if you swap a DT module for a DS module ther port ID's will move.

If you assusme all expansion ports have id's 0 to 31 available then DT modules are equiped 0-29 where as all other modules are equiped 1- 30

Other than the id move it is simply a mater of replaceing the module & upgrading the firmware to support 54XX handsets

!!! wow, sorry ridge1983, if IPGuru is right and he usually is, that was something I never knew. According to the Matrix (a spreadsheet of IP Office info) the port ID's are independent of the module type. But the Matrix is US orientated so would never have considered DT modules - my fault guys.
