I have 40 ext(IP406 ver3(59)) system and randomly analogue users get the problem of calls not connecting, going engaged after dialing 3 digits, dialing the full number ringing for 2 rings then going engaged, and other various related problems(and this only happens on analogue phones).
We have collated a SMDR log and a Trace log and established that the unconnected call tries to use PRI line 5(which only comes up when the call will not connect).
I was considering replacing the analogue expansion, the ISDN card the shielded cat5 cable and changing the port that the expansion is plugged into on the back of the 406.
I have upgraded the software, still lots of problems.
Does anyone know what PRI Line 5 represents/means,
weather it is a hardware error, or weather I need just to rebuild the config(can it be that simple?).
Any help would save me a lot of heartache.

PRI line 5 is the PRI in Slot B

Random problems are the biggest pain but there is usually no easy way around them.

Changing the Phone module would be the easiest path but i don't think that is the problem.

What line cards are in the system and are they all connected to lines ? Maybe a clocking issue ?

Check the advanced tab of the line

Thanks for the reply.
When you say line card, I am presuming you mean the PRI card(ISDN 30, with 10 channels), which of course only has 1 port.
I have checked the advanced tab and the following options are used:
Clock Quailty = Network
Line Signalling = CPE
CRC Checking = ticked

When you say PRI in slot B, should it be in slot A?
Thanks

In line are what is the number/s of the PRI line ?

Which slot is the card in A or B

Line 1 = Slot A
Line 5 = Slot B

Slot B was originally the only slot for PRI or BRI on the 403 but that changed on V2, it doesn't matter on the 406 though

the line number is 05.
the line sub type ETSI.
Number of Channels is 10
Number of voice channels is 10
Number of outgoing channels is 10
number of data channels is 10 (is this wrong).
Int the channel group and the line appearance box, I have channels 1 to 10 and everything else in 0, default.

Problems with isdn30 circuits are almost always caused by the line provider, Have you had the circuit checked

You may also find it helps to prove the fault if you temporarily default the IPO, if the problem is still present it is almost certainly a line provider issue.
