I'm building a new trunk group in my S8710 to accommodate a new PRI from our LD carrier. I have the DS1 card, the CSU and all the hardware and I have the TRU configured via ASA. Only thing I don't have is the cable between the network interface and CSU on the back of the cabinet. I've seen all the warnings about don't use regular UTP (Cat5 or Cat6) cable and make sure the pairs are individually shielded etc. However I've run T1's hundreds of feet from our switch to our Fax Servers and IRV equipment using UTP Cat5 without issue. Am I safe using this for my new T1 or should I purchase an Avaya H600-383 type cable? Distance between the NIU and the CSU in this case is only about 20 cable feet.

ISDN PRI will run hundreds of feet on native Cat 5.
Use a standard patch cable, they work fine.
If you only have a standard amphenol/telco lead use the violet/orange violet/green pair.
We did them like this for years until they came out with the Telco/RJ45 adaptors.
