I have been watching our DNS server and looking at the number of queries received vs. number of queries answered.
The percentage is somewhat alarming and since I never really looked at it im not sure what to make of it. The stats stack up like this: (for 10 hours)
Total Query Received: 550029
Total Response Sent: 492134
Here are my quesitons:
Is it normal to not respond to 10% of queries?
Is there any way to find out why the queries are being dropped?
Is there another service or program that works better than the MS DNS service?
The server is running windows 2000 advanced server and using the native DNS services.
