Drop down sorting?!

I'm having an issue. I populate a drop down from a database and I'm trying to set the 'sort' on the drop-down properities.. but it will not allow me to set it to true.. is there a reason or a work around??

You can't set sort when using alias, sql, or fields as the row source type.

To have the data sorted either use sql and add a sort clause to it, create a view of the data that is sorted, or I think you can have the sort order set in the table when the combobox iis populated. (I have not checked the last one.) Since I use views almost exclusively I tend to use that option.
