DROP DOWN MENUS WONT WORK IN NETCAPE. URGENT HELP AS MY WEBSITE LIVE! 1

My site wroks fine in IE but when in netscape the drop down menus are misaligned so noone can get to any other pages. Is there any Javascript I could use to make the drop downs created by using layers in dreamweaver appear as they do in IE.

Any help would be appreciated as its my forst go at drop downs and my clients gonna through a fit if they find out it doesn't work in Netscape.

Hey, Louise. Do you have a test link to the site? Layers would be fairly easy way to go - check out projectseven.com for the menu positioning, and extension AutoLayers. Of course, people resizing text this could be a problem. But it should get you up for now. I'm trying to get into the CSS-habit myself.

I've checked that out but didn't understand there tutorial so find one that used the hide layers etc, but then found out its not happy in Netscape. Its one of those very bad days. Any further help would be greatly appreciated

(it's an old site so ignore the look =custom made for old NN 4.X)

but basically it comes down to this:
[layer_1]- onMouseOver hide ALL but show [layer_menu_1]
[layer_2]- onMouseOver hide ALL but show [layer_menu_2]
....
the "tricky" part is if you add some more layer/menues...then u have to go back and make sure that the 1st layer/menu also includes show/hide for the newly created layers/menues

Okay, I checked out the site - most of the drop downs work (at least in Netscape 7). The rollovers appeared - is the space between the nav bar and the drop down menus intentional? It seems that one has to mouse very quick for the submenus to stay (hover over the layer containing the submenus). If the spacing is intentional, I would use a transparent gif at the top of the layer containing the submenus and move the layer up.

Basically, the projectseven tutorial I was talking about seems kind of long, but isn't that bad. It's using a similar technique to the standard show/hide layers effect that you already have, with the twist of having a "closing" layer positioned just beneath each layer so that rolling out will hide the submenus. See my site - I think that's where you're trying to go.

The other option would be to go for a timed display of the layer. I've seen a couple ideas for that in the javascript forum.

Hi again, well thanks for all the advice, I tried the autolayer thing, but does it work in dreamweaver 4 as its not showing up in my behaviours panel, the break that appears inbetween the meuns is not intentional and thats the problem, if you view the site in IE it all lines up perfectly

but like you can see in NN it throws it all out of alignment and drops it down so you can't slect the submenus.

Any ideas of how I can solve this prob? & how do I make a transparent gif?

-- I don't know where this came from? u don't need any outolayers things.
your site loogs good in IE....as far as NN is concerned well...NN always did and will show things differently. the best thing u can do is find a happy middle. Spend time looking into your code and layer positioning...not in WYSIWYG but in code view!

and "Save As WebPage" and in the files saved u will find transprent giff that is 1x1 px but can be stetched as much as u need it to cover!
