I have recently formatted my harddisk and installed XP and my system is fresh. But there is one problem. My soundcard does not seem to work with xp. It is a built in one on the motherboard. I would give you the name of the motherboard or the device name but i dont know how to find it and i dont have any manuals. All i know that it is a pentium4 and 256mb ram. do i have to play with some jumpers? How do i find the right driver? All it comes up with in the device manager is Multimedia Audio Driver under Other with the yellow sign. I try to look for drivers everywhere on CD's internet my pc but no luck.

Please Help Me someone

Many Thanks

You need to find out the make and model of your motherboard, so you can identify the sound chip (and any other components).

Switch the PC off, take the lid off the case and look on the motherboard for any identifying marks. To provide a complete list of motherboard manufacturers would be impossible but some of the more common ones are as follows:

Abit, AOpen, Asus, Epia, Gigabyte, Intel, Leadtek, SuperMicro and Tyan.
