Driver File Corruption

Help, I am attempting to boot up a Sony Vaio PCV-RX650 P4 computer. The unit blue screens, but I cannot read the error codes on the screen as it reboots immediately. I suspect a driver or service that starts upon boot, but cannot determine which one it may be... any ideas on how to proceed other than reinstalling XP....

First I would recommend taking a look and see if you can get the recovery console to load.

If it will then try running a chkdsk to make sure there is no corruption on the HD.

If that fails you could try an inplace upgrade (repair) of Windows XP. This allows you to reinstall the major components of windows without loosing files and settings.
You will need to reinstall any Windows Updates.

boot in save mode and disable the automatic restart in mycomputer/advanced/start and recover (im german and dont know english terms, names might differ but meaning fits)

ask google for the stop error you get like
stop 00000005 000ab300 ....... irq less ...
or post it.

Thanks for the quick response; however, I was able to load the recovery console and was not able to boot into safe mode... I ran the chkdsk with the /F option and it didn't find anything wrong... I placed the drive in a secondary system and also checked for viruses... nothing found... I do konw that it is a driver issue, but cannot see the stop code to use google...
