Hi,

I have 2 cubes with identical structure.

Now, in the first cube I drag all measures as rows and time dimension as columns. Then, I nest another dimension as rows besides measures.

But, when I perform the drill-through the target cube does not display the data in the same format.
i.e. it displays the data filtered on the dimension values passed from source cube, but, the format is not maintained.
Measures are displayed as columns instead of rows.

Can you please let me know, what could be th reson behind this...?

Thanks,

When you drill through to the second cube, you are not passing it any structural information. You are only passing filters to it. The second cube will open in its default format. Your drill through sounds like its functioning exactly the way it's supposed to.

Why would both of your cubes be structured exactly the same?

Pain is stress leaving the body.

Hi DoubleD,

ok...but if we don't have any nested levels of dimensions, then the target cube displays the data in the same format as the source cube.

The second cube is for displaying the measure values in Euro equivalent. Since the underlying fact table stores the details in multiple currencies, I had to create another cube with the same structure with converted values.

Hence, the user would be interested if the target cube also displayed the details in the same format as the source cube.

Thanks,

Sounds to me you should use the currency converter in stead of the Drill-through functionality...

Hi,
But my base table contains the measure values in multiple currency. So, can I make use of currency table? Because what I have known is that we can make use of currency conversion feature of Cognos if we had the currency values stored in single currency in the underlying table.

You are correct in your reasoning for not using currency conversion tables as the data stands at the moment.

You could however use your currency conversion data and convert the fact table data source to produce the data in a single currency.

This would then allow you to use currency conversion in your final cube.

Hi Gary,

Yes...that was one of the options suggested, but the users would like to see the transaction details in original currency as well... So, I had to achieve it through drill-through :(
