I am new in BI solution integrator field. Not sure if BO, whatever client, can drill from one cube to another. Also, is it possible only with BO cubes or any OLAP cubes from SQL Server or Essbase.

Your help is appreciated.

Thanks!

BO is not a cubing product, so your question is partially irrelevant. 99% of users use BO against relational databases. You can link reports to each other using the OpenDocument function (search busobj.forumtopics.com for *opendoc*).

BO (primarily WebI) can be used as an OLAP viewer. It reads from both SQL and Essbase cubes (and others). You can use it to drill from a cube to a relational report. I believe the most current version can also drill from cube to cube. If 6.1 does not do this, then 6.5 will in the summer.

Thank you Steve for the info.

I was referring to micro cubes (DOLAP) in older BO version - probably not in web-client. Anyway your repley helps.

Thanks again!

Micro cubes are really just caches.

You can build reports that can link to other reports. This uses the OpenDocument function I referred to earlier. This sort of drilling from 1 BO report to another only works when the reports are viewed through the web.

So, I guess the answer to your original question is, "yes", but with the web constraint.
