DREAMWEAVER-WON'T OPEN!

I use Dreamweaver 8. We had some computer issues and installed Windows XP overtop of the same OS so we could start anew. And it worked sort of.
Now I install Dreamweaver, and when I go to open it, it flashes the logo and then is gone. We have windows service pack 2, BUT we tried it with and without and get the same results.
We uninstalled and re-installed Dreamweaver 5 times, same result.
Someone please tell me if you know how to fix this, I have a client and in the midst of doing a site for her and I can't even get the dang program to open now!
