Hello

Is there an easy way to draw in word 2002
I have just spent about the last 3 hours trying to create a 1 page flow diagram
Lines keep disappearing, then reappearing
Every time I try to insert a line it just comes up 'Insert diagram here'

I never had a problem on Office 97

Am I going about this the wrong way

What I am trying to create is a combination of text and diagram related parts

Damian.

Try Insert, Diagram and select the Org Chart type

I found the same irritating problem. You can get round it by changing the wrapping / layout of the boxes you are drawing to 'In Front of' or 'Square' and so on (don't forget the 'Move Object with text' checkbox).

That said, I found the easiest way round it was to drop into Excel and use Drawing there (The same Flowchart symbols are available in there too). Connectors work great and move when the box moves so when I realised I made a dogs of the flow-diagram I don't have worry about re-connecting boxes ...then I just Copied the lot and dumped it into Word as a picture (Use Shift+Edit then Copy Picture)

Heaps less frustrating than finding all your carefully spaced text disappearing off into thin air ;-)

You could try downloading some software specifically designed to create flow charts. They are much easier to use than drawing in word an much more flexible. I use SmartDraw for flow charts and organization charts that I have to do. You can download a trial version for free at

Its very frustrating

Like I say, I never had a problem doing this in Word 97
I would have knocked this together in about 20 mins

I'll try using Excel and if it works ok stick to that method

Thanks
