Hello everyone, I'm trying to find ideas on how long most people are retaining dr backups. I know every shop is different but I just wanted to see whats out there because it seems like 60 days / 60 cycles is extreme especially if they go offsite every day. Any answer is much appreciated.

My retention policy is:
Daily = 7 days
Weekly = 30 days
Monthly = 3 months
Quarterly = 1 year
Yearly = 7 years

My DR backup retention is set to the default.

60 days / 60 cycles.

Thats like recovering back two months worth of DR backups. Anything older then that would probably not be worth recovery.

I trimmed mine right up as i have a offsite media agent that i aux copy to. Can thing of what its set to offhand but i only keep a couple of days worth in case theres an issue over a weekend.

I also do a manual copy of the indexes thou as a lot of my sites are connected via slow wan links and backed up via syth fulls.
