Downgrade Exchange?

I know you can upgrade Standard to Enterprise by installing the Enterprise version over Standard. Does anyone know if you can downgrade by installing Standard over Enterprise?

I don't think you can downgrade exchange, enterprise installs a few extra functions and is designed for clustering and has large databases etc...check out the MS website, but i don't think it's a starter :-(
