I have ran into this issue 2 times now. Doubleclicking on anything will not work. I have narrowed this down to a software issue (complete reinstall resolves issue).

Single-click will select any item. But Windows® does not acq. the second click. In order to open item, you must right-click and open. This issue is also true in all programs, not Windows® Explorer. IE: double-clicking on an item in a program for more info does not work like it should.

What I am looking for is a resolution to this problem. Again, a fresh install works. I would like to find a way to avoid having to do that if possible.

HI DON,

I have seent this many times in the past on my Win98 systems. You did not say what OS you were using.

The problem would "go away" unon a reboot, but then appear. Then I noted one day that I could make the problem cure itself by the following:

1. At the desktop
2. Hold down BOTH the LEFT and the RIGHT mousekeys simultaneously, and at the same time,
3. Tap the control key.

Note that this may be somewhat keyboard dependent, as I have never had this problem appear on any except this system. My syggestion is to try it for your problem. All I can say is that it preserved my sanity.

Just in case it does not work, tell me more about your system and whether the problem is always there or not.
