Double space in code when opening .php page

Hi,
I am trying to edit a web page (index.php)- a script I bought. When I open it, dreamwever puts double spaced lines in the code. Does anyone know why?

Your help would be much appreciated.

What happens if you open it in notepad (or a text editor)?

It opend OK in notepad - everything is fine.
