I am suddenly getting two "views" of a file when I open it. The first is ABC.XLS:1 and the second is ABC.XLS:2 . I don't know why this is happening. Can someone please tell me how to stop Excel from doing this?

A new window was opened for this file. (Window > New window). Just close one of them and save the file. A window is a separate view to the workbook with its own settings, you can have more than one for one file, they are saved with the workbook..

Thanks Combo. But I can't find a way to close just one of them. When I close one window they both get closed.

You are closing the application.

Close the file itself.

Use either the cross below the grey cross in the top right of the screen or follow File>Close

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.
