Hi All,

I have Crystal 8.5

When I click on a report icon that is sitting on my desktop or anywhere else on my computer I get the error:

"File not Found"

Unless I first open Crystal and then select a report I get this error. I know its something to do with the folder options and association, but I don't know what. I created an association for RPT extensions with Crystal but I still get the error.

Any idea?

Paula

Which EXE did you use for the association's application? Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting

C:\Program Files\Seagate Software\Crystal Reports\crw32.exe

version: 8.5.0.218

That is very unusual, since that is the correct file.

The simple thing to try first is to reinstall CR after removing the association. You shouldn't have had to set the association manually, since that should happen automatically when you install the product.

Im on Windows 2000 professional.

Thanks for your help Ken.

This might also be a security/premissions issue. On Win2K you might have to install things as an administrator of the PC. Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting

Thanks Ken,

This thing started because I downloaded "CrystalDesk".
CrystalDesk was unable to run the report because it couldn't launch Crystal. I will reinstall Crystal and hope it takes care of the problem.

Thanks Again,

Paula

Actually, there is a support article with this same issue on the Crystal Decisions web site but for Seagate Info 7. I had the same issue with Crystal Reports 8.5 - I had to remove the association and manually enter for .rpt extension. Make sure the type is set to application/x-rpt and for open, view, and design needs to be set to c:\progra~1\seagat~1\crysta~1\crw32.exe "%1" and uncheck DDE. Set Open to default.
