I have my server setup on domain.com but the problem is when domain.com is typed in to IE it won't locate the page becuase it is obviously searching internally.

Is there a way to point this to a host or do I need to change in the server domain?

Thanks
Simon

not completely clear on the question, but... maybe create a CNAME record in DNS that points domain.com to the necessary outside address. then requests for domain.com will get pointed there...

(i am taking for granted that your dns servers are forwarding enabled and have valid ip address for your ISP's DNS servers and the server can connect without issue to the outside world..)

I can access domain.co.uk but not domain.com (domain name of the server)

I have dns running

I have a website domain.com hosted but this is external.

Yes it is connected to the internet via an ISP

Would the CName resolve my issue i.e and not cause any other issues?

Thanks
Simon

so in your DNS server(s), create a CNAME record named "domain.com" and point it to the appropriate public address. then when you attempt to access domain.com, you will be pointed to the address as specified in your DNS server. If a website exists called "domain.com", you will resolve it. (clear the cache on your client before testing... ipconfig /flushdns ) and history too...
