I have two questions to set to you people who know how......

1. If I have win 2000 servers installed on a machine, and it is hosting the domain. would you be able to log onto the domain as if its a client machine as well.

2. If I have a machine running win XP Home will I be able to set it up to connect to a win 2000 servers domain? I know this is a stupid question but I want to make sure it's as easy to do, as it is with a win 2000 pro machine before I invest in a large amount of XP machines.

Thanks simon

1.You can logon in to Win2000 DC as domain user and use it as workstation if you want. Perhaps I dont understand correctly your question, sorry.

2.With WinXP Home you cannot logon in to domain, its only for workgroup networking. Should use WinXP Pro.

yeh basically, how when you turn on a client computer it comes up with the domain name and you can loggin into the domain, if a computer is running win 2000 servers and is hosting a domain can it be set up to come up on boot up with the default option to log onto the domain, but I think you answered that anyway by saying I can.
And ok thats something usual to know, but if I have XP Pro on it, it will be ablt to log into a win 2000 server yeh?

thanks simon

You can join WinXP Pro to Win2000 domain, after that your logon screen will change to Ctrl-Alt-Del logon window as in Win2000 and you can choose to logon in domain or local workstation.
